Industry Consolidation & Transformation
Over the past few decades, there has been a major transformation of the sources of capital available to companies in the lower end of the middle-market. Institutional capital has moved upstream, away from the lower/middle-market and into the middle and upper/middle-markets. During this time, many securities firms, banks, and finance companies underwent a massive consolidation, resulting in much larger firms with many more institutional restrictions and which are either unwilling or unable to provide capital to smaller businesses. The effect of this consolidation has been to leave very few options for smaller companies seeking acquisition financing and non asset-based growth capital, other than a sale of equity interests to a private equity group or a strategic buyer – either of which can involve rigorous processes with extremely long lead times and eventual loss of control.

Boone’s Strategy
Boone was formed in 2007 to fill the void of institutional cash flow lenders to an underserved lower/middle-marketplace left by the recent consolidation of capital providers. We look for companies that fall below the radar of most other traditional lenders. As a hybrid lender, our core strategy is to provide secured loans coupled with equity kickers. First and foremost, we analyze the credit-worthiness of a prospective borrower from a lender standpoint and, secondarily, look at the investment opportunity with a view toward the potential returns above and beyond an interest rate.

Opportunistic Approach
We are open to companies within all industries, having previously underwritten loans for Cabling and Networking, Art Auction, RFID, Healthcare Billing Services, Staffing and Coal Mining companies, among many others. While we specialize in acquisition finance, we also look to provide capital to firms in need of growth, bridge, or project finance. We are willing to underwrite opportunistic deals with, or without, sponsors as a lead lender or participant. Our team of experienced professionals is capable of closing deals that require a quick turnaround from due diligence to funding.
